Business is the provision of a solution, however the solution must be relevant to those who need it. When one is marketing or selling a product there is always a need to ensure that the product or solution that you have is relevant to the people who need it. When this does not happen then the product becomes just that, a product. The difference between big and small businesses is the relevance that they bring to a community. The more relevant you are to a wider community the more likely that you will make more money.

Check your timing

Don’t rush to introduce an idea to a million people before they need the product. Timing is everything in business and hence one must be give clients what then need just at the right time. Snapchat is a great business idea because in its form today it is relevant to social media and what people like.

Check your technology

If you are going to offer the best product then make sure that your technology at that moment is relevant. There is no use bringing a product whose delivery is done by a manual process for which people are over that level of technology. You need to ensure that it is accessible and convenient to people before you make noise about it. Your technology can thus be the process that you use or the procedures that you utilize to bring the product to people.

Check your standard

The standard that you set must be acceptable and attainable for it to be relevant. When a standard becomes too high for people they may tire from trying to reach it, hence when you set the standard you must give it a measure that will not discourage people. A good standard is relevant to those who require the product that the standard is supporting. Emirates has a standard which is relevant to the market that it serves, and so does Virgin airways. The Virgin standard is not attainable to everyone but to the market it serves it is relevant to them because they can attain it.

Evolution of timeCheck your speed

When MacDonald serves its clients it has to do it within a certain level of access which is relevant to the customers who want their fast food fast. Your speed of serve must be relevant to the people that need the product. A fast food outlet that serves after every ten minutes is irrelevant in the fast food business. When speed become consistent it becomes a constant and before you know it, it will become a standard.

Check your evolution

Relevance it a wise man is the ability to make sense if the face of change. When things keep changing that which remains is only that which can be used for opportunity. A floppy diskette is still useful for storage but is irrelevant for the current requirements of data storage. In time flash drives will become irrelevant as well. Evolution of time necessitates the evolution of ideas. You need to evolve in business in order to become a success.
