5 Ways to move beyond words to find success

Estimated read time 4 min read

Talking about success is a good thing however it is one thing to talk about it and another to be successful. There are times when action needs to back up all the talk because life is not just about words but it is about words that have been implemented into something. So one can make a big old declaration that they are successful but sooner or later that declaration needs to come to life and it does not just happen overnight.

The question in this article is how does one move from just talking to a level where you actually implement things.

Live within your future tense

When you are declaring that you are rich and that you going to implement certain things then you need to start changing your habits into a future tense. For example if you say you want to travel the world, then start by travelling your own country. Do something today, that projects you into the bigger scheme of things. You could say you want to be come a famous singer one day, then start singing at in crowds or places that let you entertain. Until you start projecting your future in your present tense your future may never find a foundation to become real.

Don’t speak on your past as your foundation but relate more to your present

There is always a tendency to blame one’s past about their present situation and naturally their future. The more you relate to your present the more you will start to feel you need to do more. If you are always looking back and talking about Egypt, then the more you will long for the past or blame the past for the future. You cannot set a future if you past is the only foundation you understand. Let your present be the cement that your vision is made of.

Use I and own it

“I want to own a new Mercedes Benz”, use the words that make you own what you are talking about. Don’t just speak in hope but speak in the faith of it. If you are not convinced about what you are saying you will never own the vision of what you want to accomplish. Until you are convinced you will always seem like you are campaigning to make others believe in your behalf. No one can believe for you, it starts with you.

Start your day with an activity and end it with words

Success is the culmination of the number of things you achieve. If you want to go far then don’t let your words be first but let your actions lead your words. For example, you could say you are good at what you do, but if you never really practice what you say you are good at then there is no point in such words. The substance of any words is the value of the actions that precedes them. People don’t listen to Obama or Clinton because of what they say, they first judge their dressing, and past actions before they hear them to listen to them. A man who rants before doing something dignified is always remembered for their first impression. Let your actions be your first impression so that if you miss a step in your words your actions will be your bank guarantee.

Only speak words that reflect your personality

Sometimes we sabotage ourselves with romantic words which are said through peer pressure or the need to impress yet this is not who we are. Doors are closed when our words fail to reflect who we really are. Always try to live life as who you are but even more important speak as you would paint your picture with your words. Your words must be the mirror of what you are and who you are. When people hear you they don’t need to see you because your words are a testimony to your character.
