5 Boxes that Hinder your Innovation

Estimated read time 3 min read

It’s been said think outside the box, but the moment the box is mentioned we tend to think around the box. There are 5 boxes that Hinder you from innovation which exist in our lives. These are principles or concepts which have a prominence in our lives such that we are hindered from being innovative.

1. Education

Education is a great thing and everyone should get it. Going to university, college and school are great for opening your mind to think more extensively however your success in innovation should not be hindered by education. What you learned does not have to be the border of what you can achieve. Learning the encyclopedia is great but it does not create a job for you or work or business for you. No one asks you if you know the encyclopedia before they buy your innovation. To be innovative you don’t need to be constrained to what you learned at school.

Think beyond the box and solutions will come to you.

2. Experience

Your experience is what you have known or gone through in the past. Experience is good but sometimes there is need to be progressive. Innovation means introducing something new to what’s already established. Something new can be something never thought of before. Referring to the past is good but if you are always referring to the past your progress will always be determine by borders you put which are called experience. So a person can say certain things are not possible based on their past experience.

3. Career

Another box when it comes to innovation is called career. Careers are clearly determined on what one can do and what one cannot do. So sometimes we are programmed to think in a certain way with rules and laws. Career is important, it is another route to success but innovation also has a rule, “There is always an answer“. There is not always one route for innovation. We can still innovate in different careers.

4. Society

Our greatest advisors are our friends, TV, newspapers, experts amongst different voices that exist. People normally advise accordingly to their boxes as well, so you need to listen but be capable of selecting what to follow and what not to follow. Sift all advises and consider whatever has merit.

Some advice is meant to keep you at a certain levels whilst some advice is meant to build you up, consider both with care.

5. Qualification

Qualification does not necessarily mean certificates it can mean your past victories as well. These will include traditions, cultures and other norms that you believe qualify your existence in society. Your qualifications do not necessarily have to be your boxes but we tend to choose then because we believe this is who we are and is connected to our ego or pride. You are not just your qualification you are a progressive being who is capable of more than just what you have achieved in the past. Innovation is about creating new things in order to succeed.

You must  innovate in order to succeed.
