5 steps to becoming your own superhero

Estimated read time 3 min read

Once in a while our imaginations run a little wild hoping for some level of super hero power to save ourselves from the day to day challenges that we face. From watching Superman, Batman, Iron Man, Spider man, sometimes we wish we could have our own superhero to come and save the day for us. Unfortunately we find that in most circumstances we have to be our own heroes to save the day. Becoming your own super hero can be as easy as 5 steps.

1. Decide what your focus of skill is

You cannot be a jack of all trades but you must never be a master of no skill. Find a skill that you can use but never think that a hammer is your answer to every problem. Focusing on a skill means you are setting a foundation for the of building of your personal confidence. This does not mean that you are going to use your skill to solve every problem this just means you are setting a peace of mind in terms of what you are capable of. Attaining a skill is just a confidence building exercise to prove to your self that you can learn anything that you set your mind to.  It is not your education that makes you rich it is your ability to learn that creates your capacity for success.

2. See the bigger picture

In Spider man, one of the best things said in the movie is “With great power comes great responsibility“. Always look for the bigger picture, it’s not about the event it is about the reality that the event will create. In your daily undertakings be your own person who understands what reality you are affecting. A painting is a reflection of every paint brush stroke, always think of the bigger picture.

3. The more you give the more you become

You will find that the harvest of any field is on the quality of the seed that is planted. Until one plants a seed the outcome of the field we can never determine. The more you give the more you become. If you want to become your own super hero you need to give more of yourself. Working hard is not about the effort it is about the destination that you want to reach.

You are your own hero if you are willing to sacrifice more of yourself to achieve the bigger picture.

4. Set your standard of values

be you
Until you set your standards you are like a transparent artwork waiting to be filled with color

Every super hero operates by a code or standard of value. This is your guideline in everything that you do. It creates meaning to what you do, so that you can have a purpose in your life. In the absence of purpose chaos reigns. Laws do not create purpose they create order but values are the reflection of purpose.

5. Keep learning and improving

Every super hero knows that there will always be a villain around the corner. Challenges will always threaten your success or endeavors. Your capacity is never fixed it is only determined by your willingness to learn and adapt as time moves on. Always build on your foundation. Stay vigilant on the things that are going around you.

Sometimes your intelligence is as high as your awareness.

    Hey there,

What a delight to have stumbled upon your blog 🙂

I really liked #3. It’s about giving our all. No in-betweens. It makes sense to not get what we want if we’re only half-hearted on it.

However, I’d argue that we should focus/work on our efforts more than the end goals per se.

We may not reach our goals, but we improve in terms of how much effort we put … and how much things get easier, being a product of setting the bar a bit higher than the last.

Also, in terms of rewarding ourselves, it’s more fulfilling to look back at how we’ve changed, rather than the achievement of a particular end goal.

It’s not about the goals, it’s about what we become in achieving them.

Nevertheless, I loved this post. Thank you 🙂
